Why a motorcycle course?
While a Driver Improvement scheme does exist, due to the differences between riders and drivers, this does not address the issues facing riders.
How do I get on a RIDE course?
Courses will be offered to riders, at the discretion of the police, as an alternative to going down the prosecution route.
What is the aim of the course?
The course is designed to create a positive and responsible approach to motorcycling in order to prevent further unnecessary deaths and injury of motorcyclists on our roads.
How often can I take the course instead of being prosecuted?
You can only take the course once every three years, but even then it is at the discretion of the police.
Is the course free?
No, a charge will be made to cover the cost of running the course
What is involved in the course?
The theory element of the course will last a full day and you may be referred for a practical riding assessment to an Approved Provider. This will be arranged separately.
How long does the course take?
The course lasts one day, however this will be longer for courses that includes practical elements
